Carb

Low carb diets are plentiful. There are all kinds of different low carb diets out there. Some are more restrictive than others, and some are riskier than others. Be sure you know what you're getting yourself into before you start one of these diets.

Carb

In many ways, a low carbdiet makes sense. People tend to lose a lot of weight quickly, and losing even just 10% of your body weight can decrease your risk for diabetes and other health problems. Some low carbdiets can teach you how to eat more healthily to keep your blood sugar under control. But some low carb diets are better than others. If you're considering starting one, learn about the different ones that are available first.

Different Types of Low Carb Diets

When it comes to low carb diets, some are more strict than others. Our bodies need between 130 and 150 grams of carbs a day to function properly. Carbs are the only source of fuel that get to the brain, and the right carbs can keep you...regulated, so to speak, as well as provide essential nutrients for good health.

Some low carb diets are very strict throughout the time you're losing weight, while others are only very strict during the first two weeks. Some offer tips for staying healthy throughout the plan, while others don't. Some of the more strict plans include the Atkins diet, Neanderthin and Protein Power. Some of the less restrictive plans that focus more on eating healthy carbs are the South Beach diet, the Zone diet and Sugar Busters. There are many, many more besides these, but before you decide which one is right for you, take the time to read the books for the ones you are most interested in. You'll see that some focus on your health more than others. And some, like the Atkins diet, realize that there will be nutrition deficits and recommend supplements to deal with that. Some of these diets suggest that you take up to 30 supplements a day. If that's your thing, go for it. But the best way to get the nutrients your body needs is to eat the healthy foods that provide them.

The most important thing is that you understand the health risks involved with being on any kind of diet.
