	<title>What Are Bad Carbs</title>
<description>"What are bad carbs?"might be the question you're asking yourself when you're trying to cut carbs. Obviously, if you've found this page you know there's a difference between good carbs and bad carbs. So, read on to answer the never-ending question, "What are bad carbs?"

The Definition
Bad carbs are almost any white food. Think about it: Bad carbs are actually anything made with white flour and refined sugar. Does that help? No? Still asking, "What are bad carbs?" Okay, we'll be more specific. Bad carbs are anything from the following list:

White flour or anything made with white flour, like white bread, regular pasta, bagels, cakes, cookies, pie crust, etc.
Refined (white) sugar or anything made with that, such as cake, cookies, brownies, candy, ice cream, pie, cheesecake, frosting, soda, some fruit juices, pudding, etc.
White rice

The Science
When you ask yourself or anyone else, "What are bad carbs?" you should also ask what makes them bad. Basically, bad carbs are sugar molecules that are made up of only two or three smaller molecules. Because there aren't very many molecules for your body to break down, it doesn't take your digestive juices long to do it. Therefore, you're hungry again sooner than you would be if you ate good carbs, and you eat more. (Typically, you eat more bad carbs, too, and the cycle starts all over again.)

In addition, bad carbs cause your blood sugar to spike then drop like a rock. Bad carbs also cause your body to produce an excess amount of insulin, which can lead to weight gain.

We hope we've helped to answer the age-old question, "What are bad carbs?" Read on to learn how to avoid them.
